INFO:
Are you doing these 4 things when changing your baby boy’s nappy!?! Boy Mamas! This one is for you 👩‍👦💙 As many of you know, I'm a long-time boy Mama - with two little guys who keep me very busy. Plus we now have our baby girl! But I'm also a NICU nurse, so I've changed my fair share of nappies for both boys and girls. You may have heard that changing a boy's nappy is easier than a girl's - and this is true for several reasons, but there are still a few things you need to be aware of: 〰️ Always check the penis is pointing down inside the nappy. Otherwise, you may end up with leakage! 〰️ That being said, try to keep the penis pointing down during changes too... as if they pee (as they love to do when their nappy is off), it's going to go straight up over his chest and into his mouth. You may think I'm joking, but I have seen this a few times. 〰️ Don't worry about needing to do anything with the foreskin at this age - you don't need to retract. If you're wanting more info on circumcision, or if you have any concerns, then do have a chat to your Dr. 〰️ When wiping, you need to cover the whole genital area including testicles and inside all the folds - including around their bottomu002Fthighs. The scrotum has lots of linesu002Ffolds where poo or moisture can get trapped, so always give this area a really gentle but thorough clean. 〰️ Change as quickly as you can... or have a cloth on hand. Baby boys can pee unexpectedly and it's much like an uncontrolled hose! 〰️ Always check for the testes (stay tuned for more detailed info on this) - but every nappy change, just do a quick check and make sure they're where they should be and watch for any redness too.
